The Textiles Training Group supports the textiles, clothing and related industries' training needs, be they manufacturing sourcing, retailing, buying, merchandising and administration. The group calls upon the expertise and skills of a diverse source which includes academic, industrial and individual textile experts in order to provide high level training across the textile and related fields.

18 - Health & Safety Seminar
The Lancashire Occupation of Health and Safety Group are presenting a full day seminar on Tuesday 18th March 2008 in conjunction with the Health and Safety Executive and some guest speakers. The seminar will cover areas such as COSHH Principles, Work at Height, Workplace Transport and a Noise Update. The cost of the seminar is £65 per delegate including lunch.
 
The seminar will be held at Barton Grange Hotel, near Preston and further details can be obtained from this office.

21 - Introduction to 3D Weaving
The Association in collaboration with NW TexNet and University of Manchester, have organised a half day seminar entitled "Introduction to 3D Weaving". The objective of the seminar is to raise awareness of 3D weaving and the opportunities it presents for member companies especially in the aero, auto and marine sectors. The seminar leader will be Professor Chris Carr of University of Manchester's Department of Textile and Paper.
The seminar will be both practical and theoretically informative and will be held on Wednesday 21st May 2008 at 10:00am until 1:00pm. There will be an opportunity to see 3D fabrics being woven.
 
Refreshments and lunch will be provided. If you wish to reserve places, which are free please return the booking form or contact this office by no later than 9 May 2008. An extra booking form is enclosed.

Textile Training Group
based at Leeds University supports the textiles, clothing and related industries' training needs, be they manufacturing sourcing, retailing, buying, merchandising and administration.

5 - Apprenticeship Training Presentation
Burnley College has recently conducted a survey into the recruitment and selection needs of the weaving industry in Lancashire. The findings of that research have shown that many companies are concerned about their ageing workforces and the availability of new recruits. A number of potential new recruits for the industry will be introduced to the basics of weaving in preparation for enrolment onto an apprenticeship.
 
In conjunction with the Association, the college is holding a free lunchtime briefing with the Association at the Lancashire Digital Technology centre in Burnley on 5th August 2008 from 11am until 2pm.
 

12 - Health and Safety Seminar
The Association is to run a one day Health and Safety Update for managers and supervisors. The seminar will be held at Mytton Fold, Langho on 12 August 2008. The seminar leader will be Les Frankish.
 
Details of this seminar have been circulated to members. Places are still available.

September 2008

16 - The Textile Industry Advisory Committee (TEXIAC)
Invites members to attend an Open Meeting held on Tuesday 16th September 2008 at the Yew Tree Lodge Hotel, Packington Hill, Kegworth, Derby, DE74 2DF.
The themes of the event will be 'Machinery Maintenance' and 'Asbestos Dangers' and are aimed at Maintenance Managers, Maintenance Engineers and Health and Safety Managers. There will be a presentation on HSE's campaign, 'Asbestos - the hidden killer' and practical information on machinery safety during maintenance and repairs.
The event will start at 9.30am and will run until 12.30pm and is free of charge. Registration will take place from 9.00am and a buffet lunch will be included

8 - Effective Employee Management Seminar
The Association is proposing to run a one day Effective Employee Management Seminar This will be held at Mytton Fold, Langho on Wednesday 8th October 2008. The seminar leader will be Les Frankish.

November 2008

Parliamentary Lunch
The Textile Institute Parliamentary Lunch, will be held on 7th November 2008 at The House of Lords, London.
